If you have seen the other messages, management for XFM have asked all sites to stop hosting episodes since at least a few weeks ago now. Several sites were affected, but that's not to say that most of them are either still on youtube, or certain other torrent sites, plus people are still able to sell them on eBay somehow. I might add not legally however, though I am still unclear as to how 'illegal' something is, if it was a radio show, especially if the songs have been cut out. The only songs that need to be left in are the ones such as Eric Claptons 'Wonderful tonight' where Karl thinks it is about a little wheelchair fella

Did they give a reason for it? I'm guessing it's because TP is technically using them for commercial gain as this site has ads and stuff, but I wonder if they're doing themselves more damage than harm. I always tune into XFM when I'm in the London area because of listening to these shows, and there's no chance of me forgetting the frequency since I've heard it about 2 billion times (104.7 isn't it? haha good old Laurie Halibut/Haddock).
It's also confusing as I called them up recently to ask for permission to use one of Karl's stories for a uni assignment and they were absolutely fine with it and sounded like they couldn't really give a toss either way. They also initially thought I actually wanted the archive recording of it and so told me that they didn't have archives as far back as 2002, so that makes me doubt they're planning to release them for money at any point in the future.

Hey nice to see you again rainy Yeah I think this is just taking the material away because Karl in particular has become a LOT more famous as of late, and the thought being that 'if hours of material is available for free, why would anyone pay for new stuff? Plus this way we may be able to reuse it for highlight on itunes'. But I already have all the XFM stuff for free, it's never stopped me buying the podcasts and the Idiot abroad DVD etc. So it really was quite an odd decision.

Truely gutted these had to be removed, they used to have me in bits in my office when work was quiet But I already have all the XFM stuff for free, it's never stopped me buying the podcasts and the Idiot abroad DVD etc. So it really was quite an odd decision. Do you know of anywhere I might be able to download the shows?

Do I know somewhere? Yes. Can I legally tell you where? No, not on a public forum anyway.

Just wondering if there is anywhere I can download the XFM shows from now that Pilkipedia no longer offers them? I have heard most, but not, all of them and need a new fix of Rockbusters, Monkey News and Songs of Phrase. Can anyone help? Thanks a mill.

All I can do in answer to that, is re-quote myself: Do I know somewhere? Yes. Can I legally tell you where? No, not on a public forum anyway.

Sorry I missed your message, I must have just totally skipped over it! I'll have to sadly point back yet again to my previous response (that I have made three times already now to be fair), yes I know where you can get them, but I can't tell you on a public forum, as for reasons beyond our control, XFM decided they didn't want copies of a 10 year old radio show floating about on the internet. To answer your query about the actual episodes however, the ones before (B4 isn't a word, but I'll assume that is what you meant), there were a few compilation tapes from the pre Karl years, plus 2 entire shows. Content wise, they are a bit rubbish compared to the later stuff (even the later stuff without Karl) but it is rather interesting to hear them all the same The stuff with Ricky's mum is lovely for one thing, which brings to mind a story that was recently referenced in 'Derek', with her falling in the pond in their back garden.

thanks but I already have the eps for 1998 that were reorded on tape (tape A, tape B ect), I am talking about the 7 shows that aired in the weeks previous to the ep1 november 10th episode. for some reason this is classed as episode one but there are 7 before it. I cant find them anywhere, I even tried calling xfm but got no response The thing is I have listened to every available episode 100's of times over, so any new material would be priceless my email is paulca25@hotmail.co.uk any info would be greatly appreciated

Those tapes from around 98, and the 2 full shows that exist, are all the XFM stuff that exists before that date (aside from the odd random clip here and there), so I'm honestly not sure what 7 shows you even mean, sorry.

its a shame because this episode is not the first in this series as many people believe, just wish there was some way to find the true original eps (

Indeed a shame, but I do wonder why did you only mentioned the specific amount of 7 shows though? I mean, there were a lot of pre-capital takeover shows (which is the time period you are talking about), but you only mentioned 7, is there something you know there that I don't? The only reason that ANYTHING from that time period even exists, is because some fan happened to record them, so unless another fan has recorded the radio shows, and has them long forgotten in a box at the back of their loft/attic, then I am afraid we will never hear them, as back then I think the DATS (Digital Audio Tapes, thanks Pilkington) were probably just taped over with other shows sadly.
