I've been pretty ill a lot lately, but managed to stay awake long enough to watch Derek on Channel 4.
I'm sure it will be repeated (and it deserves to be) but it was really good. I was expecting it to be more like the old little snippets of video that Ricky did with Derek, which whilst funny, I'm really not sure they would have made much more than a sort of odd comedy, where you weren't sure if you were laughing at the comedy or at the disabled guy.
But yeah this was more like a sad situational thing rather than just a comedy (though Channel 4 only showed funny bits in the trailers for some reasons).
Funniest bit was probably not one of the 'laugh out loud' moments, but a bit I almost missed, where Derek goes to knock on a door of someone that just died, and then shrugs half way through the knock.
Saddest bit weirdly was Dougie hanging up the picture he said he was just going to bin anyway, for the same woman that died.
Hard to know how much of it all was acting, and how much was Ricky actually being sad, and Karl actually being.... well, Karl, but overall I really liked it.
I was about to look for the trailers to post, but someone made a video compilation of them all, and there are some outtakes at around 2:12 onwards: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjrW5hXinzk I've never seen Karl laugh that many times in anything ever, I don't think so anyway.
Although, that singing bit wasn't in the program at all? Maybe they just couldn't film the after bit without laughing. I hope if there is ever to be a DVD of it, that there are more outtakes and stuff.

Having worked in places like that for real, I really enjoyed Karl getting a bit angry towards the council guy, SO very (and sadly) true.
