WHY didn't they use Rory for the HBO animations? I understand it's logistically more difficult to fly in a single animator from the UK to do it all and it'd take a lot longer but still, it'd be so worth it. There's nothing like a true fan's animation. It's the little nuances like the way the camera zooms in on Ricky when he laughs particularly ridiculously or gets really angry. And of course the show-related easter eggs in the background (Happy Egg btw everyone, don't eat too many eggs boys).
On the subject of animations, I have plans to create a 3D animation of the manhole cover nuclear bomb story for my Computer Graphics and Animation module at uni so hopefully I can upload it here when I've done it. It won't be as funny as Rory's because I'm not particularly proficient with 3D modelling and animation but keep an eye out for it anyway, if nothing else it's a great Karl story to hear again.

Do post that video if you get it done!  But yeah, the fan invented bits were mostly seen as pointless by the official animators, mainly because outside of the real hardcore XFM day fans, who would even understand most of the background references? I do love them, but I can see why they didn't include them. I do love eggs, mainly chocolate ones, or cream ones. |
